Chocolates are perfect for any occasion: a celebratory dessert, a romantic gift, a sinful cheat day treat, or even just a mood booster when you’re feeling down. Its deliciousness simply hits home every time, which is why it’s almost everyone’s favorite food. People sometimes even go all over the world just to taste these exquisite sweets, even at an expensive price. Fortunately, for us Filipinos, we don’t have to look far just to taste world-class level sweets now that we have Auro Chocolates.

(More chocolate goodness here.)

Auro Chocolate is made from criollo porcelana, one of the rarest cacao varieties found in Davao. That alone makes it unique since most local chocolates make use of tablea. Utilizing criollo produces chocolates that are on a class of its own with its rich, creamy texture. It is also nice to know that Auro makes your sweet-tooth craving more satisfying by selling them at a much better price than the international brands we adore. As we all know, local products are often much cheaper, and being a bean-to-bar chocolate contributes to that factor, as well. Bean-to-Bar simply means that it is made by one company who is doing it all; from the harvesting of cacao to the manufacturing of the finished product–no imports, just proudly all-local.

For their first chocolate bar collection, they have the Davao Origin. These indulgent products have three varieties: the 77% Dark Chocolate, the 64% Dark Chocolate, and the 42% Milk Chocolate – all made from natural ingredients, their special cacao, and a fruity note to give it a unique taste.

Each bar weighs 85G and only costs Php175 – a gem worthy of its price that is as good as other premium chocolates. In my personal opinion, the 64% Dark Chocolate is a must-try. I am a fan of really dark chocolate, and this one has the perfect balance of sweetness and bitterness.

Auro also sells couverture, full-bodied chocolate perfect for baking and other complex confections, as well as Cocoa Nibs and Mass. More details can be found on their website.
