Auro is proudly Filipino, single origin, a bean-to-bar chocolate company that sustainably sources cocoa beans directly from local farming communities in Davao, Philippines. In order to improve the standards of chocolate production in the Philippines, Auro invested in a 2,000-m2 modern factory equipped with the latest technologies. The factory is specially designed for learning and collaboration so that everyone can appreciate the bean-to-bar chocolate making process.
Auro goes beyond bean-to-bar by involving itself in every step of the process. It offers constant support to farmers and teaches them organic farming and business management fundamentals. Auro buys beans at a higher value to inspire quality and to give farmers the opportunity to improve their standard of living.
Auro’s collection comes from the company’s passion to perfect the art and science of producing high-quality cocoa and chocolates with an artisanal approach. Their chocolate bars use full-bodied, rich cocoa flavor with tropical fruit notes.
I have tasted Auro Chocolates’ 42% Milk Chocolate with Banana Chips and 55% Dark Chocolate with Arabica Coffee. I definitely tasted the differences between the two bars in terms of the bitterness of the chocolate. Both chocolate bars have smooth chocolates that tasted authentic in the mouth. What I liked most was the noticeable yet not chunky banana chips and coffee nibs in the bars. They went all out in incorporating the banana chips and the Arabica coffee in the bars, and they made each bar infinitely better than other local chocolates, including artisanal ones.
